Highlight of the trip were the Mendocino Botanical Gardens. $15 reservations required. 47 acres of plants. plants, and a cemetery (??) right along the Pacific Ocean. People sneak their pet bunnies into the gardens to check out the views.
The garden eventually leads to the coast and a cool 'lil shack with a view. The ocean wasn't very happy to see us that day.
Next stop, Russian Gulch State Park to see a bridge and a sinkhole. $8 for day use.
Apparently lichen growth along the coast = good air quality? I think the air quality must be quite good here.
The coastline in Mendocino is very characteristic of everywhere else in California.
Next stop, Glass Beach. Extremely underwhelming. Smells like a porta-potty that hasn't been emptied. People with buckets everywhere picking up pieces of glass. Maybe we went to the wrong beach?? lol
Spent the night. Ate at Viraporns Thai Restaurant (interesting name). Kayaked in the Big River (sadly no photos). Drove home. Stopped for a cheeseboard at Pennyroyal Farms because it's the basic thing to do. Would have loved to do the rail-bikes if they had availability and we had more time!
