In this module, we were asked to begin building our PLN or Personal/Professional Learning Networks through the use of Twitter. As someone who is extremely new to Twitter but comfortable with other social media (Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn and Weebly) this experience of engaging in something new was difficult. As someone who has known about twitter for the past decade but has decided never to create their own account, it was an interesting experience to dive into. After engaging with twitter and following other educators and education platforms I have seen many potential benefits in that Twitter is a place where I can find engaging lesson resources/hear about what other innovative teachers are doing in the classroom. Building a PLN is important in showing who you are as a professional and plays a role in how others perceive you prior to meeting you. The image on the right shows my first twitter post as I participated in the #edtech chat.
In this module, we were also asked to create a hyperdoc that students would be able to engage in. For the purpose of this, I utilized my final project that my algebra students will engage in. It is linked here. The hyperdoc that I created was adopted from a lesson that had students creating a house using desmos out of straight lines and mixed together with my final year project on function transformations that has students create a drawing using all they know about functions and domain restrictions. Students are able to interact with the document to understand their tasks, find help when they need it, and submit their final work products. The hyperdoc is pictured to the right. |
