Surfboard Rack
Moving back to Hawaii meant one thing...more surfing, much more surfing. This surfboard rack was built to hold four surfboards. The purpose of the rack was to keep the boards off of the ground and organized.
Tools Required: Mitre Saw Drill Dowel Jig Kreg Pocket Hole Jig and Drill Bit Palm Sander Putty Knife Wood: 2x4's cut at the following lengths Width Bottom Piece: 1.5" x 3.5" x 40" (x2) Support Piece: 1.5" x 3.5" x 29" cut at 35 degrees to form a trapezoid (x2) Height/Upright Piece: 1.5" x 3.5" x 48" cut at 20 degrees to form a parallelogram (x2) Dowel Rack: 1.5" x 3.5" x 40" with holes for dowel inserts every 9 inches and 2 inches from each end(x2) 3/8" flathead plugs to plug countersink screws Dowels: either 1" or 1.25" dowels depending on the foam tubes available cut at 16" lengths (x5) Misc: Wood filler Wood glue (for the dowels) Wood stain (pre-stain, oil based walnut stain, stain sealer) Foam tubes for dowels (pipe insulation tubes) Yoga Mat (for foam support for the surfboard tail) |
